Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How Does Window Tint Work?
A: Window film is designed to reduce the amount of solar heat transmission through glass by increasing the solar reflection and solar absorption. Typical colored or dyed films work primarily through increased absorption. The color absorbs the solar energy at the glass, thus reducing the direct transmission into the room. These films only offer marginal performance when compared to reflective films.
Reflective films are manufactured with a precision coat of multi layers of metals. These metallic films increase the solar energy reflection of the glass, subtly reducing glare and controlling heat build up We will not install low quality, dyed films on your glass.
Q: I have dual pane windows. Can they be tinted?
A: Yes. Dual pane glass and Low E glass can be tinted with most of the options shown.
Q: Does Window Film Cause Seal Failure And Condensation?
A: Film manufacturers continuously analyze temperature and pressure changes within the airspace of a dual pane insulating glass unit. Most windows are designed to withstand five times the film’s calculated pressure increase.
Q: What is seal failure?
A: Seal failure occurs when the sealant between the two panes of glass fail, exposing the airspace to the surrounding environment. Since the sealant acts as the moisture barrier, condensation may develop in the airspace of the insulating glass window.
Q: How Long Does Window Film Last?
A: On residential applications, our film carries a non-transferable manufacture lifetime warranty on product and installation.
Commercial applications carries a 10 year manufacture warranty on product and installation. On certain specialty films there are warranty restrictions and limitations.
Q: Thanks For The Great Job On My Windows. How And When Do I Clean Them?
A: We recommend Non-Ammonia cleaner and a soft cloth. If you use a professional window cleaner, let them know the windows are tinted.
Q: My Windows Are Hazy, How Long Will This Last?
A: Under normal conditions, two weeks is the drying time for metallic film. Times vary due to sun exposure and time of year.
Q: What Are The Energy Savings By Having My Windows Tinted?
A: Savings depend upon the amount of glass exposure to the sun, type of film, type of window and other variables. Average savings on a home range from a two to five year return on investment.
